Reps Apatang, O. Babauta, and Quitugua are trying to pass HB 16-217 increasing the fees for obtaining a business license! $3,000 a year for a Wholesaler's license?! WTF are they smoking on the Hill?
These three idiots claim that the cost of processing a business license has gone up while the fees have not. Have they increased the staff at the business licensing office? Last time I was there, the two women in the office where very efficient at getting my paperwork processed.
Have these three stooges been to T&R lately?
Don't they realize that this Bill is going to force more businesses to close and leave Saipan?
What are their REAL motives for this BS legislation, other than ignorance?
The Watchdog says, "Out with the old and in with the new". Fire their asses for stupidity!

I think it would be better to start enforcing the litter laws. Each violation requires a $200-$500 fine. If they want revenue generating bills, all they would have to do is pass a resolution asking the EIGHT government agencies tasked with giving out litter tickets to start enforcing the law.
ReplyDeleteanother way to drum up some income for the gov is to have tax and rev people go and do floor audits at the stores. i dont know how many stores i have been to where the cashier doesnt give a recipet and doesnt even use the cash register, it is open and they hand change so there is no record of the sale. or another place is all the tour agents and beach consession stands. I KNOW FOR A FACT many of those businesses are dealing in cash and are NOT paying taxes! thousands of dollars in a day and no tax paid. that would really make a difference.
